6 Beauty Products I Can't Live Without

Ok, so we all know we could live without our beauty products, they're not exactly essential. But we do like them, and since we live comfortably we have some that we could not live comfortably without. Here are 6 of mine!

1. Carmex: In any form or flavor, this is IMO the best lipbalm on the market. It is medicated no matter what kind you get, original or stick, so you're always going to get medicated-strength. It's dirt cheap too, a 3 pack is like what, $2.50?

2. Frizz Ease Secret Weapon Smoothing cream: Comes in a very portable tube (I keep one at home and one in my purse), and is great for smoothing down frizz and fly-aways. It also adds luster to my hair and makes it smell great.

3. Coriolis Flat-Iron: This is the best flat-iron I have ever tried. It heats up in mere minutes, heats up to 400 degrees, straightens your hair with just one stroke, and leaves my hair looking shiny and healthy. It's also pure ceramic so it doesn't damage the hair like metal does, and it's PINK!!

4. Benzoyl Peroxide Cream (10%): Great for clearing up zits! Works in 3-4 days and is non-irritating to even me (I have very sensitive skin).

5. NYX Round Lipsticks: Though I only have 2 atm, these are by far my favorite lipsticks. I like them better than MAC lipsticks because they are odorless, creamy, smooth, well pigmented, and non-drying. They are way cheaper than MAC but are the same quality IMO, and they come in a wide variety of colors.

6. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen SPF 100+: This combined with the SPF of my foundation and moisturizer give my Fort Knox protection against the sun. It also works as a great primer because it leaves such a silky finish on the skin. It is non-greasy and doesn't clog your pores, so is perfect to use on your face.

My Spring Semester Classes

Spring semester is coming up fast! I'm working my butt off to try and get above a 'C' in my current class (I only took one because I stupidly signed up at the last minute), but studying is going well so I decided to take 3 classes in Spring. The classes I chose are:

~English 111- Expository Writing
~Sociology 210- Intro to Sociology
~Biology 110- Principles of Biology

English will be easy since I know what teacher to avoid so class will be much better this time around. My first english teacher was a hard-ass, the most difficult teacher in the school. She failed me because I caught the flu and missed 1 too many days. I actually did come to school with the flu and went to her class because she had said the previous class, "If you don't show up next class you lose 50 points!". So I show up and she has the nerve to look at me and ask, "If you're sick, why did you show up?" BECAUSE YOU SAID I'D LOSE 50 POINTS IF I DIDN'T YOU BITCH!!!! Anyways, I made good marks on most of my papers, and i've learned from the mistakes I made on the ones that weren't so good. I don't foresee myself having a lot of trouble with this class...

Sociology, the study of human social behavior, is a very interesting topic IMO. I require 2 social/behavioral science class credits, so I decided this would be more fun than psychology. I really can't wait to get into this class, the subject fascinates me. I could never be a sociologist, I can't put up with people very well, but I don't mind studying it. It'll broaden my knowledge of the subject at the very least.

Biology...this will be my biggest challenge. Not because I don't understand the material, I've always been ahead of the other students in all of my previous bio classes, but because the teacher piles on project after project after project! I think it's one project a week...and this is just the lecture portion of the class! The lab portion is a 3 HOUR class in which we do projects, labs, papers, and experiments. It's not that the work is difficult there's just a TON of it! I know both teachers too (lecture and lab have separate teachers); the lecture teacher is under the delusion that we give a damn about her kids and would like to meet them. Um, no? I'm paying to learn bio, not to babysit your brats. The lab teacher is a good teacher, but she speaks so softly no one can hear her! I'm partially afraid I'll get a migraine from straining my ears! Yeah, it'll be pretty miserable, but I need a science. I've got no choice but to bite the bullet and get it over with.

I'll try and keep y'all posted on what's going on during Spring semester, but if I don't post very often, know that it is because I'm swamped with work and unable to have any fun. >.O

Dog Sitting Woes...Why Won't People Take Care of Their Dogs?!

Ok, so I have been dog sitting for my mom's boss for the past week, she's a 17 lbs black and white cockapoo (basically she lookes like a cocker spaniel with poodle hair). I know for a fact she came from a puppy mill (my mom's boss...she just ain't that bright), and she was bought with a lot of emotional baggage from living in that situation. She is nervous, skittish, jumpy, shy, and anti-social. These are all symptoms that could be easily remedied with exercise, discipline, and affection (in that order), but my mom's boss (who shall remain nameless) just won't do it!

This dog...I swear she does this...bites her children and she does NOTHING. She just lets the dog bite them! I caught her trying to bite her 6 y/o while we were picking the dog up and I corrected her (a short jerk of the leash and a verbal "NO"), then she tried to bite me, so I gave her a short firm touch (not a hit, I never hit) to show her that it was not acceptable to bite me. She hasn't even tried to bite me since. I know she's smart enough to understand rules, boundaries and limitations, all dogs can grasp these concepts, they CRAVE them! Her owner just won't do them! She lets the dog get away with murder (biting the kids, jumping up on people, barking to get what she wants, climbing all over the furniture, to name a few!) and then has the gall to complain about the dog! IT'S YOUR FUCKING FAULT LADY!!! Walk the damn dog!! Dogs need exercise, at least 45 minutes a day and a walk is just not that hard! She even has a treadmill that she could put the dog on, but she can't sit and watch her because she gets bored! So no exercise, no discipline but TONS of affection. They as a family are killing this dog with love! Not physically, but mentally! We did the 3 step routine with my dog since he was around 10 months old, and he is, without a doubt, a perfect dog. He knows his boundaries, he has manners (no jumping up, no climbing on the furniture etc...), and he is very social and friendly both with animals and people.

It really makes me angry that a grown woman with 2 kids can't take the time out of her day to properly care for the dog that she brought into the house! You bring an animal in, you take care of it properly!! I feel sorry for the poor dog, she's been happy as a clam staying with us and our routine but she does act up because she has been so poorly raised (the second night she barked literally ALL NIGHT). Cockers and Poodles are very intelligent breeds, I have no doubt that this dog is not being put to her full potential. She's a stuffed animal that moves basically. Just saying that makes me sick. But, she's not being truly cruel to the dog, we can't take her away.

Anyways, now that that rant is over, here's the overview:

Wake up to the dog's insane barking that has lasted either all night or half the night, take out the dogs to do their business, feed Twinkle (the visiting dog), go to school, come home to an extremely hyper dog (my dog is normally sleeping or chewing a chew stick like a good dog), let them out again, let the cat in, feed the cat, then retire to my office to relax/work with the dog laying on the guest bed behind me.

Ok, pretty normal. But then there are the quirks. She will not leave me alone. EVER. She comes into the bathroom with me (and I find it hard to go when a hyper little dog is bouncing all over the place in front of me!), follows me all over the house, even if I just get up to get a drink she has to walk with me there and then walk back. It was cute at first, but then it's like, I'm stepping on her and tripping over her and having to push her away because she's jumping on me!

Oh! And the food! She's a food thief! She got into my breakfast this morning! My dog wouldn't DREAM of getting into my or my family's food! This dog will knock plates off the table to eat the food that falls to the floor! UGH!! I'm glad she's leaving the house because it would take months to correct the damage done to her mental state, and right now is not a good time for me to devote a lot of time to re-training a dog.

Top Favorite Drugstore Beauty Products

So, I'm not rich (financially), and I can't buy all my makeup and creams and stuff from department stores like I'd like to. But, in a lot of cases I've found that drugstore products can be just as good as or better than department store makeup. I have heard the Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation is a dup. for MAC StudioFix; L'oreal just came out with a dup. for a Givenchy mascara (I forget what it's called, but it's the one with the spherical brush). The best lipbalms by FAR are the ones found in the drugstore (Carmex, Burt's Bees, etc...), so I thought I'd list my favorite drugstore products that you may want to try should you be on a budget or just not want to pay the ridiculous department store prices.

(These are in no particular order)

1. Carmex lipbalm: (any flavor, whatever you prefer. I like mint and strawberry the best.) IMO, the best lipbalm on the market. It's strong enough to heal and prevent cold-sores so it's plenty strong for healing and preventing chapped lips. I love the stuff, especially since they came out with flavored varieties (the original triggered migraines with me). I am a user for life!

2. Arm & Hammer Dental Whitening Booster: Whitens stained teeth beautifully. I have used it for 4 days and my teeth have never been whiter. This also does not cause sensitivity the way whitening strips do and is a fraction of the price for the same results. I also find it easier to use since all you have to do is brush your teeth with it along with your regular toothpaste.

3. Vaseline/Petroleum Jelly: This is the duct-tape of the beauty world, you can use it in soooooo many ways! I use it after I exfoliate my feet (I put it on thick on my heels and wear socks to bed. When I wake up it's like baby skin.), to remove my eye makeup, on my dry cuticles, inside my nose so I don't get a bloody nose during the winter (this is really painful, the capillaries in my nose burst from being so dry), on my eczema scars, and in so many other ways.

4. Burt's Beeswax Peppermint Lip balm: My second favorite lip balm after Carmex. The minty smell is subtle enough to not set off my migraines and the balm is very soothing and cooling. It's made of beeswax so it doesn't dry out your lips the way synthetic waxes like those found in Chapstick will, and it makes my tingle in a pleasant, not burny, way.

5. Benzoyl Peroxide Cream (10%): The best product I have found for acne. Stronger than salycilic acid, it will reduce the inflammation and redness of pimples in around 4 hours when you first use it, and will dry up acne withing 3 to 4 days. It is meant to be used as a spot treatment, DO NOT SPREAD IT OVER YOUR ENTIRE FACE. It is very drying for the purpose of drying up acne, it will make your healthy skin flaky and dry if you put it on it. I use it on my pimples (when I get them) once in the morning and once at night. Be sure to, if you use it in the morning, apply it before your sunscreen as it makes your skin sensitive to sunlight. 10% is the highest concentration allowed on the OTC market. Some products that contain benzoyl peroxide are ZapZyt and OXY Maximum Strength Cleanser. I use the OXY as well as the 10% cream (available in drugstores), so I'm getting double exposure (this will not harm your skin as long as you use a moisturizer and sunscreen).

6. L'Oreal Clean Definition Telescopic Mascara: This is the best drugstore mascara I have ever used. It has a small flexible wand that is perfect for reaching all the baby lashes near the corner of your eye, adds amazing length and volume, and leaves my lashes looking so big and thick I get asked if I'm wearing falsies.

7. Frizz Ease Secret Weapon hair gel: I have very curly, frizzy hair. I can normally control it but on really humid days, it just gets out of control. I carry this hair gel in my bag and use it to smooth down flyaways and frizz. It's more of a cream than a gel, and it smells really good. It's easy to carry too, it comes in a medium sized tube that fits easily in my purse.

8. Elta Swiss Melting lotion: Ok, this product is a bit pricey ($33.00) but the tub is 16 oz. of product and the way it is made, you only need a small bit at a time. My last tub lasted me 2.5 years! It probably would've lasted longer but I used a little more than was actually needed. The lotion is comparable to petroleum jelly in results, but is like butter in texture (quite literally). You warm a bit up with your fingers and it melts into them and you use that small bit on your body and face (yes it is safe to use on your face). It's non-sticky and leaves the skin very moist and pleasant.

9. Neutrogena Alcohol-Free toner: I have replaced my Pro Activ toner with this. It's less expensive, you get more product, and it works just as well if not better. I use it to remove excess sebum (skin oil and dirt) from my face before I moisturize and put on my makeup. The cotton pad is always gray after I use this, which makes me feel like my skin is getting really clean! Very cooling and soothing feel to it too.

10. Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks: These lipsticks are comparable to MAC in texture, very creamy and smooth without being overly thick, well pigmented and elegantly packaged (similar to Lancome packaging). They have a very pleasant scent of Play-Doh that I find charming since you can't smell it once it's on your lips. I will be buying many more of these!

11. Rimmel lipsticks: The one I currently own is in Pink Champagne, it's a lovely nudey-pink color. The lipstick itself is well pigmented, creamy and non-drying. It does however have a strong floral smell to it that does irritate me a bit, but quickly wears off after I apply it to my lips.

Presents!!

YAY!! My wallet and cosmetic bag arrived! they're so so soooooo cute! I also received my drugstore.com order and my lipsticks (I actually got these a few weeks ago, sorry for not posting when I did!). I shall now give the run-down on each item that I have so far used! Long post ahoy!!

~Arm & Hammer Ultramax unscented deodorant: Fabulous. Plain and simple. It is completely scent-less, which keeps my migraines from being triggered, and goes on very smoothly. Best of all, I put this on...and my pits don't sweat. At all! I strongly urge all you girls out there to try this rather than sticking to the frilly, pansy, weak stuff.

~Carmex Mint lipbalm: Carmex quality with a pleasant scent and flavor. My lips have never been softer! It is much softer than Burt's Bees I have noticed, I don't have to stroke it over my lips 8 times to get a good layer of product.

~TIGI Bed Head After-Party Smoothing cream: Works as a smoothing cream but left my hair a bit dull. It dulled the natural shine of my hair, but I got it back once I washed it out. Not sure if I will buy this again, need to try it some more. but I will def. keep the bottle, it's too cute!

~Arm & Hammer Dental Care Whitening Booster: OMG!!! Got my teeth a shade whiter in just 2 days!! Highly recommend!! A less-expensive and simpler way to whiten your teeth!

~Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks in Pink Wink and Make Me Pink: These colors are GORGEOUS. The texture of the lipsticks themselves is comparable to MAC lipsticks, very smooth and creamy without feeling overly thick. I found something odd, but pleasant about them...the scent they gave them smells (to me) exactly like Play-Doh! OMG I love that smell!! It reminds me of happy memories! I place my seal of approval on this line!

~Hello Kitty Cosmetic Bag: So freakin' CUTE!! And it's nice and big too! I dunno if y'all can tell from the pic below, but there is an inner pocket for feminine supplies (I put my Vagisil wipes in there). The bag itself is very soft and squishy, has a stay-open top, and is lined with nylon that is easy to clean and doesn't stain easily. A very smartly designed bag IMO!

~Hello Kitty Wallet: *dies from cute overload* I just love this wallet, the only complaint I have it is arrived with some sticky adhesive-like substance on the back of the charm on the front. I'm guessing they did that to keep it from sticking out and dislodging during transit. Other than that though, the wallet is fabulous! It has a few hidden compartments that go unseen in the pic, so I was pleasantly surprised!

~Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen SPF 100+: Very nice, I wish they sold this in bulk-sized bottles! I'd buy a gallon at a time! It's super silky and non-greasy while being moisturizing all at the same time. It also serves as a great primer for makeup because it leaves such a smooth, silky finish. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants the ultimate protection for their skin!

~Softlips Coconut Cream Lipbalm: *drools* Smells. So. GOOD. I wish I could eat the stuff it smells so good! Like toasted coconut...delish! I put this on over my Carmex for a sweet smell under my nose and the mint and coconut scents mix beautifully! Definitely my favorite flavor ever!

~Loofah: lol It works, what can I say? It exfoliated a TON of dead skin off my thighs and stomach (it was so gross y'all), and it felt great doing it. Not too rough yet not too smooth. A great bath accessory!

~Sterlite Small 3-drawer unit: These little drawers work great to organize my makeup collection! Nearly all of it fit in the 6 little drawers (the only things that wouldn't fit are like my huge Sephora Sun Disc and over-sized things like that) and it all stays neat and tidy. Perfect for an organization nut like myself, or just someone who needs a convenient place to store things!

~Physicians Formula translucent illuminating face powder in OopsiDaisy: Ok, first I have to say how pretty this product is (sorry I couldn't find any pics). It is a white daisy with a yellow center on a nude background in a clear compact. It's adorable! The quality is great, I have always found Physicians Formula to be a trustworthy brand in that respect, and it illuminates my face very nicely. Makes me look more awake and radiant!

~E.L.F. Clarifying Face powder in Ivory: One of E.L.F.'s good products! I have found them to be a bit hit-or-miss, but this is a hit! Didn't break me out and matched my skin tone perfectly. Great for touch-ups during the day! I will def. be buying more from E.L.F.!

~Sonia Kashuk eyeliner in Purple Passion: I had no idea eyeliners could be so soft! This one glides on easily and stays put unless you deliberately smudge it. The color is a gorgeous violet that compliments my green eyes very nicely. I'll be getting more of Sonia's eyeliners, she's not just a good brush-maker!

A few of the items I have not listed have been reviewed on this journal, feel free to look them up! The items I have reviewed are: Maybelline Expert Eyes eyeshadow Quad in Amethyst Smokes, HiP eyeshadow stick in Mesmerize, NYX Round lipsticks, and NYX Megashine Lipglosses.

What I Carry in My Bag and Why!!

I'm bored. Soooooo completely bored and fatigued. I just wanna do something fun that doesn't require any physical work. So I thought wth? I'll write a blog about what's in my bag and why. I see these things all over the place so I guess I'll add mine to the pile. Let's begin...

1. A Hello Kitty pencil bag full of pens pencils and erasers: I'm a stationary addict so I carry all of my favorite writing tools with me. I normally use them 2-3 times a day.

2. Self-Decorated Planner: I decorated a plain planner with scrapbook paper with a hibiscus pattern all over it (I'll try and get pics soon). I use it to jot down assignments, test dates, study schedules, various appointments and days off school.

3. Glasses case: Occasionally I remove my glasses and I don't want them to get (more) damaged.

4. DS Lite in Pink: To play when I'm waiting for something.

5. Frizz-Ease Secret Weapon hair cream: My hair gets mad-frizzy during the day . This smooths it out and gets rid of fly-aways.

6. DS Lite Charger Cord: So when my batteries get low, I can just plug in and continue playing.

7. Box of band aids: I'm always hurting myself somehow... >.>

8. Bank Deposit Envelopes: I keep meaning to put these in my glove box...

9. Wallet: Basic essential, holds my ID, insurance cards, membership cards, my debit card and my great, whopping...$3.00!! XD

10. Glue Stick: I haven't used it yet, but I like to carry it with me just in case.

11. White-out tape: I'm forever making spelling errors...

12. Allergy pills: In case I or one of my friends has an allergy attack.

13. A small notebook: To jot down blog ideas, character ideas, story ideas, all kinds of ideas!

14. Dove Body Mist: For when my perfume wears off

15. Heartburn pills: I'm borderline reflux, I get heartburn a lot

23. Glasses Cleaner: My glasses always get really dirty.
Top 10 Beauty Products I Regret Buying

We've all made some bad purchases for one reason or another. Maybe you read good reviews but the product just wasn't right for you when you tried it? Or perhaps you just had to have something from a certain line or collection that turned out to be totally wrong for you? I've done both of these things and many more. Recently I have been very careful about what I buy, so some of these products date years back, but the memory of them is so burned in my mind, I must warn others! Here's the run-down:

10. Head & Shoulders Shampoo/conditioner: Not only did it do nothing for my dry scalp, it fried my hair to a crisp! My head looked like a hedge! Neutrogena's T-Gel works way better. The T-Gel may smell kinda nasty, but it's meant to be a treatment you apply prior to your regular shampoo and conditioner, so the smell gets washed out.

9. ID Bare Minerals Natural Light: While this product does add shimmer, you have to pile on 3 lbs of it to get to properly highlight! The CanMake highlighter is far superior and less expensive.

8. Bare Escentuals blush in "Lovely": Totally wrong color for me, the swatches on the website are very inaccurate. Golden Gate suits me much better as do my RMK and Canmake blushes.

7. BYS Eyeshadow Stick: I had this stupid thing imported from freakin' Australia, when I could get the same thing but better here in the US! Man, was I an IDIOT!! I was too easily influenced by people on YouTube! I shouldn't buy a product just because someone I like has it!

6. Labello Pearl and Shine lipbalm: Waxy and thick and leaves chunks on my lips. Labello's worst product IMO, and I love Labello lipbalms!

5. Besame blushes: Good products, just the wrong colors for me. The packaging is adorable though, so I keep it just to show off how pretty it is.

4. Burt's Beeswax Honey lipbalm: Smells HORRIBLE and triggered my migraines! I love the peppermint one though.

3. Jergen's Natural Glow Daily/Facial Moisturizer: made my skin look dirty rather than tan and didn't moisturize at all.

2. L'oreal HiP eyeshadow stick: Chalky, difficult to work with, poorly designed and cheap packaging. Not worth the $3.00 I paid for it.

1. Sephora Sun Disc: I actually really like this product, but I regret buying it online. It arrived broken and covered in the goopey bath gel that was the shattered free gift I got with my order! The product is great, but I'll avoid shopping online with Sephora again.

NYX Megashine Lipgloss

Ok, NYX is my favorite favorite favorite inexpensive makeup brand. It's great quality, highly pigmented and best of all inexpensive!! Sadly for me though it is not sold in stores in my area (Ulta, Walgreens, Target...none carry it.), so I buy mine online at NonPareilBoutique.com where it is the least expensive. I think I've seen a total of 3 bad reviews on a NYX product, which is really impressive, and it has never caused me to break out in acne or eczema.

I recently purchased 4 NYX Megashine Lipglosses in Crystal Soda, Baby Rose, French Kiss and Pink Frost. The were $3.00 at NPB whereas they are $5.00 on the NYX website. I wish I had bought more at the time, these glosses are FABULOUS!! First off, the consistency is a bit thick but the doe-foot applicator makes it so only a thin layer of product is delivered at a time so you can build on it. The flavor is neutral, which is good because I hate the taste of flavored lipgloss. The only real problem I have with these glosses is the frangrance, they smell like cherry cough syrup. >.O BUT! The frangrance is very light and I cannot smell it once I have applied the gloss to my lips.

I would give these products a 9.5 out of 10. They only lost points because of the smell, the other aspects of the gloss are great! Would I buy it again? Hells YEAH!!

HiP Eyeshadow Stick in Mesmerize

The L'Oreal HiP line has been very popular and for good reason. Most of it's products are very high quality, highly pigmented, and easy to work with. I heard wonderful things about this line and was eager to try out a few products for myself. I decided to start with the L'Oreal HiP Eyeshadow Stick in Mesmerize, and I must say I was very disappointed. It's in a very pretty deep forest green that I thought would accent my eyes very nicely.

Well, I never found out if the color suits me because the stick is so damn hard to use! The top is flat and it's not creamy at all, so you can't apply it directly from the stick (which is what I thought the point of an e/s stick was). While it is pigmented, I will give them that, it's consistency is such that I can't pick it up with a brush and apply it evenly. I have seen people de-pot these and use them that way, but if that's the best way to use the product, by taking it out of it's original shape, purpose and packaging I'd say it's not worth my time. The stick is about 2 inches long and a centimeter thick, so you get a lot of product that you can't use! I don't know what they were thinking when they came up with the design of this stick, but my guess is they were on the pipe!

I give this product a 4 out of 10. If you want to take the time and de-pot it, it can be decent. But IMO, you shouldn't have to de-pot products like this that are meant to be applied directly from the stick. The packaging is flimsy and fragile, and the consistency is chalky and dry. A real miss on the part of HiP.

Review: NYX Round Lipsticks

I recently purchased a haul from www.nonpareilboutique.com that was all lip products. I have heard raves all over YouTube from various gurus about the NYX Round lipsticks and decided to try them for myself. According to the gurus they are creamy, smooth, highly pigmented, and all around great quality. I purchased only 2, just in case I decided I didn't like them, in Paris and Tea Rose---2 mauvey pink shades, Tea Rose being more pink while Paris is more red. I got these at a discount price at NonPareilBoutique.com, they are normally $3.00 each but I got them for $1.90 each (and I'm all for saving a buck!). I awaited eagerly for my package to arrive and wasted no time is trying out my lipsticks first thing when it arrived 3 days after I ordered.

I was not disappointed. In addition to being creamy, smooth and highly pigmented, these lipsticks are odorless and flavorless. Being fragrance-free is a big plus with me as I am never sure what will trigger a migraine, and I can't stand the taste of lipgloss and lipstick when they are flavored to be fruity or something. They always taste bitter and overly sweet to me.

Anyway, these lipsticks are so pigmented that I prefer to dab them lightly onto my lips rather than gliding them on. The consistency is very smooth and doesn't clump up on my lips at all like some other creamy lipsticks do. They are non-drying and not sticky or goopey at all. Both of the colors I bought are feminine yet neutral, allowing me to wear them all the time, when I go out or when I go to school.

All-in-All, I give these lipsticks a 10 out of 10! I plan on buying many more in many colors! I wish I had bought more when I first purchased these! I highly recommend them!

Happy Shopping!~

~Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh~ I decided to go shopping today and...inadvertently spent all my money...well except for $3.00...BUT my loss is also my gain, as I quite needed a few of the items I picked up. Here's the run down:

Sterlite small 3-drawer unit (2). I used these to store my collection of makeup which was sorely unorganized over-flowing from my previous 2 drawer unit. Everything fits perfectly! ($4.04 ea at Target)

Bath loofah. My skin desperately needs exfoliation. ($1.99 Target)

Travel-sized tube of Arm & Hammer Advance White toothpaste. So I can brush my teeth when I'm out. ($.87 Target)

Softlips twin pack in Coconut Cream and Cherry. I LOVE coconut in all forms. I just had to have this! ($2.79 Target)

Maybelline single eyeshadow in Seashell (not the color pictured). It's a very pleasant soft shimmery pink. Very good neutral or highlighter. ($2.94 Target)

Neutrogena UltraSheer sunscreen SPF 100+. I have probably the fairest skin on the planet next to an albino. Plus I have a sensitivity to light caused by the meds I take. ($10.99 Target)

I also got a small pink 5 Star notebook ($1.97 Target), a metal desk organizer to organize my brushes and moisturizers on my vanity (works great)($6.99 Target), a black plastic rose ring (one of those over-sized ones that are really popular now) ($7.99 Target) and a silver and pearl bracelet that appears as if it would need a clasp, but is actually elastic ($12.99 Target).

Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Amethyst Smokes 06 Quad

It's Fall once again and one of the hottest colors this season is purple in all shades and intensities. The hottest shades though are the very vibrant purples as opposed to the more subtle lavenders. I'm not much for wearing purple clothing, I just don't think it looks very good on me, but I am up for wearing purple makeup for the first time since my outrageous high school days. That being said, I researched a few brands on the net and decided that since it would be my first time using such a dark, bold color pallet, I would start off with a drugstore brand instead of a high-end brand just to be sure I look good in them first before I shell out a ton of money for MAC or Dior. I went to Target and passed up the CG eye-lights seeing as how every time I use CG, I break out in either acne or eczema. I bought a Maybelline Expert Wear eyeshadow quad in a new pallet called Amethyst Smokes, pictured below:

The shades include (from top right) a deep, warm purple with blue irridescent sheen undertones (lid), a dark indigo (crease), a white highlighter (brow bone) and a sparkly black (outer corner) for an even more dramatic effect. (Around $5.99 at Target) I'm not sure if you can see or not, but they have included print on each eyeshadow indicating where each shade goes. They have also pictured on the back of the case a diagram of how and where to apply each shade for 4 different looks (subtle look, casual look, classic smokey look, dramatic smokey look). This makes the product excellent for beginners, and I consider myself a beginner when it comes to these colors, so this was very helpful to me.

I have mastered the basic casual look (I haven't had the need to go for a more dramatic eye) and I must say I'm impressed with this product about 80%. The crease, brow-bone and outer corner colors are all very well pigmented, if not a bit chalky. The lid color I have found is smoother but less pigmented than the other colors. The shadows themselves are easy to apply, but I found that when I applied the lid color the other night, it faded within a few minutes and I had to pack more on (yes, I did use a primer, it wore off anyway). After the second application though, the color stayed and I enjoyed a pleasant evening without worrying about my eyeshadow.

The purples, I have also found, bring out my green eyes very much and really make them pop! All in all I would give this product an 8 out of 10. It has a few flaws, but overall pulls off the look exceptionally well!

The Birthday Shopping Spree!!

I know, I know, it's been like for-eh-ver since I've had a good shopping spree. I've bought small things here and there, but I went all out for my b-day. Some of the things I bought are kinda stupid (deodorant, hairspray, lipbalm, etc.) but I needed them and thought I would get everything in one fell swoop. Here are the goods!~~

Carmex Mint-flavored lip balm. I adore my peppermint Burt's Bees lipbalm, but I need something stronger for the winter. I was thrilled when I found this product on Drugstore.com! ($1.59--www.Drugstore.com )

TIGI Bed Head After-Party Smoothing cream. My hair gets very dry and frizzy. At times it resembles straw. I've recently upped the anti on hair care by upgrading shampoo and conditioner to TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock curly hair shampoo and conditioner. I decided to give the brand a try and get a few more of their products. ($17.50--Drugstore.com)

The second TIGI purchase, TIGI Bed Head Masterpiece Massive Shine hairspray. 'Cause who doesn't like shiny hair? ($18.50--Drugstore.com)

The aforementioned deodorant. I know it's a men's deodorant but I read in a "secrets of the stars" book that models all use men's deodorant because they have to guarantee they won't sweat on designer's clothing. Sounds like a sound notion to me! ($3.49--Drugstore.com)

Got2b CrazySleek Hot Smooth Flat Iron and Blow Dry lotion. I heard raves about this product all over youtube. I'm always looking for good hair products, so I thought I'd give it a try! ($6.29--Drugstore.com)

Arm & Hammer Dental Care Whitening Booster (can you tell I like the Arm & Hammer brand?). I heard (once again) on youtube that this works just as well as Crest white-strips. My teeth are a bit stained from constantly drinking soda, I want them whiter, but I don't want to spend $30+ on white-strips. So I spent $5.79 on this!

Meteorites loose powder brush. (eBay--$3.89, free s/h) This brush is so CUTE!! I need a new powder brush to carry in my makeup bag, and I wanted the cutest one possible!

Hello Kitty cosmetic bag. (eBay--$11.69, free s/h). I adore this cosmetic bag! It blows my current pink plastic ghetto one out of the water!

Hello Kitty wallet. (eBay--$12.59, free s/h). I sort of collect wallets, I like variety. I'm using a Choco-Cat one right now, it's cute but I need PINK!!

Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick. Top: Make Me Pink; Bottom: Pink Wink (eBay---$7.99 ea, free s/h). These are cheaper online than at the drugstore at the corner, and I'm all for saving a buck. I've heard great things about this line on youtube, and have wanted them for a while.

I also bought 4 NYX lipglosses in Frosted Pink, Crystal Soda, Baby Rose, and French Kiss; 2 NYX Round lipsticks in Paris and Tea Rose; a Physician's Formula translucent face powder in OopsiDaisy; an ELF clarifying face powder in Ivory; a Maybelline New York eyeshadow quad in Amethyst Smokes; a Sonia Kashuk eyeliner in Purple Passion; a bag of cotton rounds and a bottle of hand sanitizer.

WOW!! That was fun! Can't wait to do it again, but for the moment I'm saving what I have left! ^.^

NYX Black Lable Lipstick--A Review

I have 14 new products to review! 14!!! So at the top of my list is the NYX Black Lable lipstick. The color I got is Hot Pink BLL 101, and it is a HOT pink! The lipstick itself is very creamy and smooth. Very easy to apply, and I have noticed it is non-drying--it won't chap your lips. I dunno about y'all, but zi'm incredibly sensitive to strong smells such as perfumed lipsticks and over-scented glosses and balms. This lipstick has no scent what-so-ever, which I adore since my migraines have been coming on more frequently. I also must mention that the packaging for this product is very classy. A black tube with floral lace printing around the cap, and a clear bottom which shows the color in the tube. All-in-all a great product if a bit expensive, $7.00 for one tube (NYX website).

Another Post on Ameri-gals

I know I've stated this before but I'm stating it again. Amerigals SUCK. Now I'm not talking about fashion sense here. Oh nay-nay. I am referring to their attitudes.

I have never in my life met more stuck-up, whorish (resembling whores in attitude), or genuinely mean ppl in my life. I understand the strive for perfection. Most women strive for perfection in one way or another. But they are all doing it to the cost of their personalities! It has been my experience that only Amerigals are this freakin' critical and mean to eachother. European gals and Asian gals all seem to have the attitude of "We're never going to be exactly like them so lets all do our best to look great!" THIS IS THE RIGHT ATTITUDE TO HAVE!!!!! Amerigals have the attitude of, "We can look like them if we get ever speck and detail correct, and anyone who says or does otherwise can go eat a dick!" Um..ok, no? We will never look like the original japanese gyaru. We were born with different fucking BODIES. We can follow their fashion, makeup, and hair trends but that's as far as the scope goes.

I have seen too many Amerigals being ripped to shreds by other Amerigals (including myself--ripped on). And I have to say, except for a select few, I don't wish to associate with these ppl anymore. Congratulations gals! You've successfully annoyed me to the point of no return! You are childish, immature, mean-spirited, cruel, and all around unpleasant. I'm better than you. And I wash my hands of the Amerigal scene. I will still do gyaru fashion, but I will do it by myself. On my own. Alone. And I don't mind. My good friends will stay by me and support me no matter how I look. I'm sorry to see that Amerigals can't seem to grasp this simple concept.

So those few of you who are friends of mine and are actually decent to me, you know this isn't directed at you. It's directed towards the gals that make Gyaru_Secrets, the gals who rip others down on Everyday_Gyaru, and every Amerigal anywhere who has uttered the words "That's not gal, you need to die." (YES I have been told this before!!)

A sad disturbing revelation...

I have recently been receiving newsletters from PETA via email because I like to keep up on what's going on the help cruelly treated animals and what I can do to help. I don't support all of PETA's ventures...the sea kitten thing was just ridiculous...but I do support them in trying to stop lab animals testing, cruelty in the meat industry etc.

If you read my journals before you know I was previously employed at a Petland pet store, a chain I am only recently finding out is horrifically cruel to it's animals. In the most recent newsletter, a PetLand employee is photographed quite happily after drowning 2 injured rabbits. She did this act with the manager on her side and did it happily and proudly. How SICK is that?!! I am ashamed to have this chain on my resume!! It's not just one incident either, there are tons of reports of cruelty within the stores as well as the fact that the chain buys from puppy mills (do a google search, you'll get like 5,000,000 hits).

I am glad to have washed my hands of this company, although am glad that while I was employed with them I found that at the particular store i was working at, the other employees were animal lovers, attentive, caring, gentle, and loving towards all the animals in the store. The managers were also good, they obviously cared deeply for animals (one was hand nursing a bird back to health on her own time, the other taught me the basics of animal care to tell to the customers). The only part of the job that was disturbing was the hermit crab deaths. In one day I had to remove 5 dead ones from the display, but I believe they died because they were constantly harassed by children who were unattended in the store (parents apparently think the pet store is another daycare center).

I write this to emphasize that I no longer support PetLand or any pet store chain (stores with adoption centers are different, you are rescuing an animal not buying it like a piece of clothing). If you want a purebred dog for whatever reason, buy from a reputable breeder or rescue organization. PetLand attaches a lot of bells and whistles to the purchase of any pet, but at what cost? I would rather get just the dog, knowing that I'm not supporting cruelty and puppy mills, than a bunch of extras and a dog that was cruelly treated, neglected and/or came from a mill. I hope anyone reading this will join me in the fight against animal cruelty and stop supporting pet stores.

**NOTE: Pet stores selling only pet supplies, not animals, are clearly not what I am referring to.**

Ok, lemme start off by saying I'm not the cutest girl on the planet. I don't claim to be. I don't think I'm fugly, far from it, I take great pride in making myself look good. But I'm not perfect by a long shot. That being said, let's continue...

I take retarded photos where I am TRYING to look like a total moron. Very few photos I take are serious because quite frankly, I look bad on camera. I am not a good photo person, camera tends to make me look fatter, paler and rounder. If you have a problem with my retarded faces that I make to look stupid and do because I have a sense of humor, take a fucking pill. It's not that critical! It's just fun! Are you srsly telling me you've NEVER taken a stupid photo where you look like a total dipshit just for the fun of it? Yeah. Get over yourself and your apparently always flawless pics. If you take such good photos, be a model. Get paid for it. It's more productive than hating on ppl trying to have a bit of fun.

Go fuck yourselves.

Summer Trends

  TREND: A NEUTRAL, FLAWLESS COMPLEXION

In the spring and summer, your best feature should be flawless skin. But since it’s warmer outside, you have to use a product that isn’t too heavy and won’t run down your face when it’s humid.

TIP: To make sure you don’t over-do it, use a product that gives you sheer, light coverage to look like you were born with smooth, flawless skin! Apply it just like you would your regular moisturizer. For an added bonus, find a foundation with SPF.

TREND: A SUBTLE GLOW WITHOUT A VACATION

It’s not as easy these days to jet off for a weekend getaway, but you don’t want your only glow to come from the light of a computer screen either. The solution? Fake it with a subtle, natural-looking bronzer – one that will make friends ask where you spent your weekend.

TIP: For a subtle glow that’s polished, not overdone, use a bronzer that offers gorgeous color and a mistake-proof formula. Picking the correct bronzer will give the illusion of a soft, smooth surface. Sweep it across cheeks, forehead, nose and chin, neck and chest for a healthy looking fresh finish.

TREND: ROSY CHEEKS FOR A FLUSH OF HEALTHY COLOR

A makeup must for warm weather is a rosy cheek to bring out your healthy flush of color spent from longer days outside.

TIP: If you are a frequent traveler or are often on the go, find the perfect blush for rosy cheeks. Choose a multi-tasker that instantly contours and accentuates cheeks while giving your skin sheer and radiant luminosity.

TREND: MAKE EYES POP WITH A WASH OF WARM, RADIANT BRONZE

A subtle application of bronze shimmer shadow on the top of lids is right on trend for summer. With the same shade in hand, sweep color gently under the lower lashes to make your eyes stand out for a more dramatic pop.

TIP: Make sure the shadow is applied starting right above eyelashes and take it up just past the crease. Be careful though – if you apply it any higher, the look will go from being in trendy to clown-ish.

TREND: BUILDABLE MASCARA FOR THE ULTIMATE DRAMATIC LASHES

Lashes are full, flirty and sexy this summer, and the easiest way to achieve the look is with a buildable mascara.

TIP: To take that bronzed eye makeup look into night, sweep black liner along the lash line on the top lid, curl eyelashes, and then apply two to three coats of dark black mascara. Try one like Physicians Formula’s Organic Wear Mascara, which aside from being 100% natural and gentle, also layers easily and won’t clump.

TREND: EMPHASIZE FULL, SEXY LIPS

For warm weather, you want to go all out on achieving fuller, eye-catching lips with either lipstick or gloss. Luckily, it’s an easy step since both are no-fuss and easy to re-apply on the go.

TIP: Get the look with a lipstick that plumps to get the impact you’re looking for. To make lips appear even fuller, apply a gloss in the center of your lower lip – this will create the illusion of an Angelina pout. When using a lipstick or gloss, a simple tip to prevent runaway color is to apply concealer around the mouth then gently pat the area with powder before applying lip color.

Ameri-gals: Why all the hate?

Why are American gals so damn critical of each other? I have a japanese penpal who claims to wear gyaru fashion SOMETIMES, but keeps her hair black. If she were an American-gal, all the other gals would jump on her screaming "You MUST dye your hair!!" or "You MUST wear it everyday!" or "You MUST have circle lenses!!" or "You must tan till you're skin is like leather!!". She is so laid back about her style, as I'm sure most gyaru are. Sure they compare makeup and hair and clothes, but they don't reem girls who are missing one or two minor components! I've seen gals be insulted for not wearing falsies for fuck's sake! It doesn't make sense! They're not that strict! If they were, most gals wouldn't want to be gals because of all the rules they'd have to follow!

And another thing! Isn't gal supposed to be fun? Not a chore? I dunno about y'all but when someone puts a ton of pressure on me to look exactly a certain way, I get pretty stressed and don't want to do it anymore! Japanese gals don't act like this, they switch up styles, makeup, hairdo's, clothes and not all of it falls under the typical umbrella of what american gals think of as "gyaru". Even gyaru have off days too! I've seen them walking around in sweat suits and sneakers!

NYX Lipstick and Lipgloss

I have FINALLY recieved my NYX products in the mail, and they're...wow...just wow...I have never seen such a vivid pink in lipstick and gloss. I have seen more vivid in nail-polish but that's a whole different post. Lets start with the lipstick:

The NYX Black Lable Lipstick in Hot Pink: This shade of pink is very intimidating. Very few ppl would look at it and say "I can totally pull that off!", but sincce the hot pink trend started in 2008, I have tried similar shades and know for a fact I can handle this color. I think most people with either really light or really dark skin can handle it, the middle tones I'm not sure about. The pink will contrast very nicely with very light/very dark skin which is why I think it will look good on ppl with these shades of skin. Anyways, the lipstick itself is very creamy and highly pigmented and has no odor to speak of (some lipsticks I can't wear because the smell is so strong it sets off a migraine). I don't know if it is drying or not because I always always always put lipbalm on before I put on lipstick. Overall I would reccommend this lipstick brand to anyone, and this color to certain ppl who I believe have the proper skin tone to rock it.

The NYX Lip-Gloss with Mega Shine:
Wow....I swatched this on my hand expecting sheer with a hint of color. NO! You get full on Dolly Pink with a high glossy shine! The color is VERY pigmented, to the point where I would reccommend wearing this product by itself for a daytime look. No Hot Pink lipstick is needed! The shine is very nice and the formula is a bit sticky, but personally i like a bit of stickyness, feels like it's holding onto your lips better. It goes on a bit like paint IMO, but I mean this in a good way. It doesn't run at all and you can see exactly where you put it very easily. The applicator is a bit big but not ridiculously so. Overall I would reccommend this for nighttime wear mostly, but a thin layer can be rocked in the daytime!

The lipstick is a fun pink that I think will be great for summer, and it was on sale for $2.50! NYX Black Label lipstick is very smooth and creamy, and well pigmented. I bought the Diamond Sparkle lipstick by NYX and it was very nice too, but i wanted something less sparkley and more matte. The name of the lipstick is Hot Pink if you're thinking of buying it. I haven't tried the lipgloss before, but I trust NYX as a brand and am willing to give it a try! Plus I love the color, it's called Dolly Pink. I was tempted to buy the eyeshadow single as well but I just bought an eyeshadow pallette (pictured below) and that shade of pink isn't really my color. I look better in golds and browns.

I look great in browns so I decided to buy this eyeshadow pallette by Wet n' Wild called "Ultimate Expressions". It got great reviews for pigmentation, application and price so I thought I'd give it a try. The pallette I bought is called "Sand Castle" and it's a combination of light and dark browns. This is a great neutral pallette as well as a great dramatic-look pallette because of the large range of colors. There are 8 colors in each pallette which also includes a mini mirror. i probably won't be using it much but it's nice that it's there!

Siiiiigh...

My friend has been really depressed as of late because she has been led to believe she's ugly. Not only by her peers (not including me and Jen) but by her own mother. How sick is that? She's not ugly btw, she's stunning when she puts makeup on and cute when she doesn't have it on, just like everyone else! I don't wear make unless I'm leaving the house, and I look pretty ordinary. I wish she could see that she looks the way all women look without makeup. Not perfect, but certainly not ugly! It takes a LOT for me to call a person ugly, it's one of the meanest things you can say to someone (up there with fat and faggot). The only ppl I consider ugly have treated me or my friends badly, or are just mean all around. I think that's what makes a person ugly, not their lack of ability to live up to an impossible standard that the media puts forward.

I know she's going to read this so I'm gonna say this specifically to her:
*NAME*, you're too good of a person to be ugly. You stand up for yourself and others, you speak your mind, you are talented to the point of genius, you're funny, you're caring and most of all your a great friend. If you are still insecure, I will teach you how to apply makeup and do your hair and dress casual but nice until you're ready to strangle me! We will raise that confidence level by making the outside shine the way the inside does!

Incidentally, I have noticed my main group of friends all have trouble with acne (like myself). I have decided to post my updated acne regimen, which is making my skin clearer by the day in the hopes that it will aid them.

First of all you MUST start with a clean face. Remove all makeup from your face, neck and chest. I use a non-soap cleanser called Shikai, but that's a relatively expensive gel, so I would reccomend Cetaphil soap-free cleanser. It's incredibly gentle on sensitive skin but is a great cleanser. Wash thoroughly.

After you have removed all of your makeup, vigorously but NOT HARSHLY scrub your face with a washcloth. This will exfoliate all the dead skin that has accumulated on your face. Mine builds up on my forehead and chin so I concentrate on those areas the most.

After exfoliating, use OXY Maximun Strength daily face wash to treat and clean your face. It has benzoyl peroxide in it (10%), which is a very strong acne medication. Wash your face as normal, being careful around the hairline as any peroxide will bleach your hair. The wash is pleasant and foamy and shouldn't burn you skin at all. If it does, rinse immediately!! You might have an allergy to the medication in the wash!

Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Make sure no residue is left on your face. Your face may be tingling a bit, mine normally does. It should be pleasant not painful. Pat your face dry with a soft towel. The next step is toner, I recommend Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner. The toner calms the skin and prepares it for moisturizer. Some say that it also closes the pores but I heard that was a myth. Using a cotton pad or cotton ball, spread the toner on your face, being careful around the eyes. it may sting if you have open pimples on your face so I recommend
having a hand-fan nearby to fan yourself. The cool air will help ease any burning as well as dry the toner faster. *note: Just because I deal with the burning doesn't mean you have to.*

Once your face is completely dry, it is time for moisturizer. For day, I recommend Clean and Clear Soft Facial Moisturizer SPF 15. Beware, it does have a strong aroma of baby powder, so if you're sensitive to smells you may want to use Cetaphil facial moisturizer, which has no smell at all. Both moisturizers are very good, I've used both religiously and highly recommend them. Pump a dime size amount of moisturizer into your hand and using your finger-tips massage it into your face. For night I suggest Neutrogena Healthy Skin face lotion.

*The next step is optional and depends on how dry your skin is. If you have oily skin I suggest NOT doing this as it will make your face greasier.*

The last step is Vaseline. That's right. Good ol' fashion petroleum jelly. Take a dime sized amount in your hand and soften it on your palm. once it is spreadable, apply a thin layer to your face massaging gentley. This is a secret of the stars. Some of the best models in the world (such as Tyra Banks) swear by Vaseline. Go to bed with it on, and when you wake up your face will be smooth and beautiful.

**DISCLAIMER: This regimen was intended for my good friends. If anyone else tries it and has adverse results, I'm sorry!! What works for me may not work for you. If you try this and it works for you, comment and tell about your experience!**

It'll keep things like paint from absorbing into your skin, making it easy to just wipe them off later.

2. Protect skin from hair color! Apply around your hairline to ensure no hair color absorbs into your skin. Just wipe off later and you'll be ready to go!

3. Moisturize chapped lips! Apply and go--it's basically the same thing as Carmex.

4. In fact, moisturize your whole body! You can use it on your hands, elbows, knees...wherever!

5. Protect your nails when painting them! Apply it around the edge of your nail. It'll make sure no polish gets on your skin while softening your cuticles.

6. Get soft feet! Apply to rough feet 3 minutes after a bath or shower to moisturize them. Applying it right out of the shower helps the absorption. You can also put it on your feet at bedtime and wear socks and you'll wake up with soft, smooth, lovely feet!

7. Use as a makeup remover! Petroleum jelly gently removes makeup while softening your skin!

8. Create a smokey eyeshadow look! Apply black liner, then use a small amount of petroleum jelly over top of it. Slightly smear it for a messy, smokey look!

9. Skip your mascara!*

10. Make your eyelashes grow! Many people swear by this trick. Apply every night before bed and over time you will have longer, stronger, thicker lashes!

11. Soften hands! Apply a generous amount to your hands then wear gloves to bed. You will wake up with the softest hands ever!

12. Gloss your lips! Vaseline works great as a sheer shiny gloss! (You can also add Kool-Aid mix to the Vaseline and create your favorite lip gloss flavor and color! Yummy!)

13. Look dewy! Apply to your cheeks for a radiant dewy glow!

14. Tame your brows! Apply a tiny bit of petroleum jelly to your brows for a fabulous finished look!

15. Remove false eyelash glue! Rub a little on your lashes to remove stubborn leftover glue from false lashes.

16. Smooth your lips! Apply to your lips after exfoliating with a toothbrush for the smoothest lips you've ever had!

17. Hide split ends! Dab a bit onto the ends of your hair to hide your dry, split ends.

18. Prevent razor burn! Apply a little to your legs after shaving. It will both soothe and smooth them!

19. Homebrew an exfoliating scrub! Add sea salt and it becomes the perfect bathtime exfoliant!

*For when you want to skip the make and go all natural, Vaseline is a perfect alternative to mascara. It makes your lashes look thick and shiney and adds moisture to a part of your body I bet you never moisturize! Not only good looking but good for you! What could be better?
